Trump Meets His Favorite EU Leader — Italy’s Meloni

President Trump met with one of the few European leaders he admires — Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Thursday to discuss tariffs, continuing his high-stakes diplomatic efforts. (Watch)

During the meeting, President Trump confidently declared, “There will be a trade deal, 100%, but it will be a fair deal”. Meloni echoed the same optimism, saying she was “sure” of an agreement and hoped to “make the West great again”.

The visit marks her as the first European leader to visit since Trump’s 20% tariffs on European Union (EU) imports were imposed and paused. Other leaders of the bloc hope that Italy's right-wing PM would be able to serve as a bridge between the Trump administration and the EU, which Trump and his aides have criticized as a deadbeat and abusive partner on defense and trade.

Google Guilty of Online Ad Monopoly

A federal judge ruled on Thursday that Google illegally monopolizes two online advertising markets, marking another setback for the trillion-dollar tech giant in its ongoing battle with Washington.

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema wrote, “For over a decade, Google has tied its publisher ad server and ad exchange together through contractual policies and technological integration, which enabled the company to establish and protect its monopoly power in these two markets.”

This marks Google’s second major antitrust defeat in recent months. Last year, another court found the company had abused its dominance in the online search market. In the latest case, the federal government and 17 states aim to force Google to divest part of its network advertising business, which places ads across other publishers’ websites.

After the judgement, Google issued a memo urging staff to stay focused on their work and not dwell on the company’s legal setback in the online advertising monopoly case.

New Daily Pill May Work Well for Weight Loss and Diabetes

A daily pill may be just as effective at lowering blood sugar and supporting weight loss in people with Type 2 diabetes as the widely used injectable drugs Mounjaro and Ozempic, according to clinical trial results announced by Eli Lilly on Thursday.

Orforglipron, the drug in question, belongs to the GLP-1 class, known for blockbuster weight-loss effects. Unlike current GLP-1s — which are costly, require refrigeration, and must be injected — this pill could offer a more accessible alternative, though it’s also expected to come with a high price tag.

People who took a daily 36mg dose of Orforglipron lost an average of 7.3 kg (16 pounds) over nine months. The trial included 559 people with Type 2 diabetes from the U.S., China, India, Japan, and Mexico, and also showed that the pill significantly lowered blood sugar levels — sometimes even below the diagnostic threshold for diabetes.

Could it be the next big thing? All to know about the pill.
