RFK Jr.’s U-Turn on Vaccination After Second Child Dies of Measles in Texas

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., long known for casting doubt on vaccines, on Sunday encouraged people to get the measles shot. In a post on X, he said, “The most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the MMR vaccine.”

This comes after his visit to Texas following the death of a second child due to the virus. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, the 8-year-old girl was unvaccinated and had no underlying health conditions. The Health Secretary consoled the family of the girl and attended her funeral.

Up until this year, the U.S. had not recorded a measles-related death in the past ten years. As per Kennedy, the country is seeing about 642 cases across 22 states. Many are blaming Kennedy for the rising cases, accusing him of spreading misinformation regarding vaccination. Just less than a month ago, he claimed that the measles vaccine caused deaths annually, despite current evidence showing otherwise.

Not just that, Kennedy also said in his social media post that CDC employees had been “redeployed”. CDC spokesman Jason McDonald however clarified to AP that the first team arrived in early March and left Gaines County on April 1. A second team was redeployed and arrived Sunday to assess needs at the direction of Kennedy and the request of Texas’ governor.

Israel’s Netanyahu to Visit Washington on Monday

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, the New York Times reported. It will be his second visit since the President’s January inauguration.

Netanyahu’s visit takes place as he resumed Israel’s military operations against Hamas in Gaza late last month, despite efforts by Trump’s aides to broker a new ceasefire and secure the release of additional hostages.

The leaders are expected to talk about the Iran nuclear issue and the ongoing war in Gaza. Apart from that, they are also likely to address Trump’s broad tariff measures, including a 17% tariff on Israeli exports to the U.S. Netanyahu had attempted to prevent the tariffs by waiving Israeli customs duties on American goods ahead of Trump’s announcement, but the move appeared to have been unsuccessful.

Amid the war, Netanyahu is facing growing challenges at home, including an ongoing corruption trial in which he was expected to testify this week.

Thousands Rally in “Hands Off” Protests Against Trump and Musk Across U.S.

Thousands of people across all 50 states and around the world protested on Saturday against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Organized by a pro-democracy movement, the demonstrations responded to what organizers call a “hostile takeover” and an attack on American rights and freedoms.

More than 1,400 “Hands Off!” protests took place at locations including state capitols, federal buildings, congressional offices, Social Security headquarters, parks, and city halls. Organizers said the goal was to rally “anywhere we can make sure they hear us”.

From New York to Alaska, what different states protested against?

Nearly 600,000 people signed up to attend the protests, some of which were held in major cities such as London, Berlin and Paris, according to Indivisible. Referencing shifts in U.S. foreign policy, protesters at several sites chanted “Hands off Canada,” “Hands off Greenland,” and “Hands off Ukraine”.

Some demonstrators rallied around specific issues, while others protested the Trump administration and the broader MAGA movement. (Watch)
