President Trump Meets Israel’s Netanyahu Discusses Gaza, Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday he wants the war in Gaza to end and believes it will likely happen soon, as he hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. (Watch)

During the meeting, Trump called Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan “very smart” and suggested he could serve as a mediator between Israel and Turkey.

He also revealed that the U.S. has begun direct talks with Iran over its nuclear program, adding that a high-level meeting is planned for Saturday. “I think if the talks aren’t successful with Iran, I think Iran is going to be in great danger. And I hate to say it, great danger, because they can’t have a nuclear weapon.”

The announcement, made alongside Netanyahu, comes as Tehran continues to push back against direct negotiations. Iran confirmed Trump’s announcement, stating it will hold talks with Washington this weekend after months of rising tensions over its nuclear program.

Kennedy to Halt CDC Fluoride Push for Drinking Water

U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said on Monday that he planned to direct the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to stop recommending community water fluoridation nationwide.

Kennedy made the remarks during a press conference in Utah and was joined by EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, who announced that the agency was also reevaluating fluoride guidelines in light of “new science”. The EPA is responsible for setting the maximum allowable fluoride level in drinking water.

The CDC currently recommends fluoride to help prevent tooth decay, but that guidance is now under review.

A report published in August linked higher fluoride exposure — roughly double the U.S. recommended limit — to lower IQ in children, though it noted that more research is needed.

The EPA will also announce on Tuesday whether it will uphold or roll back Biden-era regulations requiring water utilities to filter out toxic PFAS chemicals from drinking water. By later this month, the agency is also expected to decide whether to maintain a separate rule that holds polluters financially responsible for cleaning up these substances.

About 150 Student Visas Revoked (Quietly)

At least 147 international students recently lost their legal status to remain in the United States, according to The New York Times. This action has sparked fear among students and confusion at schools now rushing to assist those facing possible detention or deportation.

The affected students span a broad range of institutions, from elite private universities like Harvard and Stanford to public schools such as the University of Texas at Austin and Minnesota State University-Mankato. The University of California system has also reported dozens of cases across its campuses.

As reported by Bloomberg, several visas have been cancelled without carrying out the due process. In fact, the cancellations have often been discovered by these schools only after the federal immigration records were updated.

The recent actions have heightened anxiety among international students, with advocates warning they could undermine U.S. schools’ ability to attract global talent.

Recently, border czar Tom Homan said in an interview with Axios that immigration agents would be the "principal" deciders on whether the detained individuals were linked to any gangs or should be deported immediately.
